Our Founder's Story:
Saturday, April 29, 2023, started as an ordinary weekend for me—a day filled with family, laughter, and yard work. Little did I know that this day would become a turning point, a moment when life hung in the balance, and everything changed.
As I shoveled gravel in the yard, a sudden wave of lethargy washed over me. I retreated to the porch, trying to regain my composure. My parents were in the front yard, enjoying the day with our neighbors. My youngest son, Jacob, was playing and "helping" us move gravel.
I sat on the porch, but my world started to blur into a white haze. I struggled to my feet, stumbled into the house, and called for my wife. As she rushed to my side, I felt like I was about to pass out. She handed me water, but as I took a sip, my eyes rolled back, my speech slurred, and I struggled to respond. In a moment of sheer panic, my wife made a life-changing call to 911.
As I lay there, my wife asked my father, a deacon in the church, to pray for me. They laid hands on me, praying for my healing in the name of Jesus. While they prayed, first responders arrived in just six minutes. They recognized signs of a heart attack and immediately called for an EMS transport to the ER.
In the ambulance, I was desperate, calling on God, pleading for my life, and making amends for my past. The pain and uncertainty were overwhelming, and I feared I might never see my family, friends, and loved ones again.
At the hospital, I underwent surgery. Two of my three main heart arteries were 100 percent blocked, one of them known as the "widow maker." The odds of survival were slim, but I defied the statistics. I emerged with no heart tissue damage. The cardiologist, with over 30 years of experience, marveled at my recovery.
But the journey didn't end there. I couldn't find relief even after the successful surgery. My left arm ached, my chest felt heavy, and my vital signs plummeted. I was back in surgery at 2 am, this time to clear a blockage that had occurred on one of the stents from the earlier procedure. Once again, God's grace prevailed, and I was unscathed.
Afterward, I was able to stand on my feet, and in just a few days, I was back in my home. Tears of gratitude filled my eyes and joy warmed my heart. My faith in God was reaffirmed.
This story isn't just about my desire to live; it's about the sovereignty of God and His choice to spare my life, health, and strength. I could have easily been called home, but I was granted more time on this side of life, and I'm profoundly thankful.
It's also about the power of prayer. This time, when I needed it the most, it made a profound difference. God's response to our prayers is a testimony to His unwavering presence in our lives.
As I continue to recover, I've had time to reflect and ask important questions. If you knew your time on Earth was limited, would you have accomplished everything you desired? Seen the places you dreamt of visiting? Pursued your dreams? Loved fully and built your legacy? I found that I still have much to do, see, love, and build. More than ever before, I am profoundly thankful for this second chance at life.
